#22 La Quinta De Los Méndez (The Fifth Of The Mendez)

This video revisits the history of the “Quinta de Los Méndez” in Tandil, a clandestine detention center used during Argentina’s last dictatorship. In October 2024, the province of Buenos Aires passed Law 15.509 to expropriate the property and transform it into a Memory Center, a human-rights space, and a community mental-health center focused on trauma and substance issues.

The story is told through two people tied directly to the site: Matías Moreno, the provincial human-rights official whose father, Carlos Alberto Moreno, was executed there; and Walter Fernández, one of the survivors who endured the violence inside the Quinta. The video brings their testimonies together to show how memory, justice, and public policy intersect in the ongoing effort to confront what happened there.
